International Women’s Day is a time to recognize the outstanding contributions of all women and an opportunity to promote and support gender equality. By empowering women and girls to meaningfully participate in all economic, social and political realms, we are working toward achieving gender equality and creating a brighter future for all.
Young women leaders from local high schools came together this morning to connect with inspirational women and discuss the need for us all to think about how women in history have developed grassroots movements to push the forward women’s rights and equality. Huge thanks to the teachers, our speakers and especially the students! #TOStPauls
The theme for #IWD2020 is #BecauseOfYou, which reminds us to look back on history and to reflect on the role of women’s movements that strove for increased participation in public and political life. It is #BecauseOfYou that women and girls everywhere are continuing to make a difference in our world today.
Thank you once again to our special #IWD2020 guests Dr. Sylvia Bashevkin, Chi Nguyen, Kehkashan Basu, Alica Hall, TPS Constable Monica Rutledge, and TDSB Trustee Shelley Laskin. Thanks as well to Central Eglinton Community Center for hosting us!
