On Wednesday, March 29th, I got to go to school again!
In the morning, I visited Jesse Ketchum Public School. The Grade 7 and 8 students performed an incredible play during an assembly which they created in their Aboriginal Studies unit. After the performance, I had the privilege of taking a number of very insightful questions from the students about my work as a Member of Parliament and as the Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs. Thank you to Ms. Brombal, Principal Holmes and Trustee Moise for having me!
My next stop was Vaughan Road Academy, where I visited both of Mr. Stretch’s Grade 10 civics classes. We discussed my work as a Member of Parliament and the students shared with me what they are learning about Canada’s government in their class. During lunch, I met with a group of the school’s student leaders for an informal conversation about leadership, government and careers. Thank you to Mr. Stretch, Vice-Principal Allen, Principal Zwicker-Reston and Trustee Arp for a wonderful visit to one of my favourite schools! And thank you to Yolanda in the cafeteria for a delicious lunch!
