On Sunday May 7th, we had another successful summit in Toronto-St. Paul’s Summit. Twice each year, the local elected representatives from all orders of government come together to discuss an important issue with each other and members of our community. Over the past two decades, these meetings have become a crucial part of the Toronto-St. Paul’s model of “democracy between elections”.
With Canada 150 just around the corner, we looked ahead and discussed how we can all work together to better serve our constituents at the municipal, provincial, and federal level. We heard from community members on a wide variety of issues, from cannabis legislation to transit infrastructure. The turnout was by far our best yet! As always, the discussion was so engaging and informative.
I know that I and the other elected officials present — MPP Dr. Eric Hoskins, City Councillors Joe Mihevc, Josh Matlow and Josh Colle, TDSB Trustee Shelley Laskin and TCDSB Trustee Jo-Anne Davis — learn so much from our community members at these summits, and we are all eager to continue these conversations.
