Last November we held a summit on affordable housing, and the audience asked for a separate discussion on homelessness. This chilling winter brought the issue to the forefront of our minds as we saw the increased demand for shelter beds in Toronto. Every year, 135,000 Canadians rely on shelters. It is the responsibility of every Canadian to help solve this pressing issue, and we know many are eager to get to work
At our roundtable on homelessness in Toronto-St. Paul’s last Sunday, we discussed how can work together to eliminate this problem. Government representatives, experts and community advocates discussed the root causes of homelessness and the way forward. It was an educational and inspiring conversation, one that gave us all the tools and information to work together to solve this problem
Thank you to all of our participants for sharing their experiences and insights, and to Holy Blossom Temple for hosting us. Lastly, thank you to all who pointed out the need for us to come together to continue these conversations and work to ensure everyone in our community has a place to call home.
