Farmers market lunch and engaged youth at the Davisville Junior Public School

Wishing students, teachers and parents a great first week back at school! Right before the holiday break, I visited the Davisville Junior Public School.

Mr. Bell’s Grade 6 class reminded me of just how important teachers are – not only in educating young minds, but in creating engaged citizens. Mr. Bell was teaching his students how to advocate effectively to public officials. It was so inspiring to see young Canadians learning how to fight for what they believe in, and in a classroom! Thank you to Mr. Bell and the Grade 6 students for keeping me on my toes – your questions were just as tough and insightful as they were last year!

In the lunchroom, Lesley Stoyan and Chris Trussell of AppleTree Markets Group were preparing lunch for the school with ingredients from their farmers’ markets. It was wonderful seeing the young students learn about local, seasonal cooking. A huge thanks to Lesley and Chris for all they do in our community!
