Young people are leaders today – making change in our community each and every day – and it is very important for the government to provide support as they obtain the education and experience they need to be successful in the future. On August 29th, we hosted a meet and greet event for all of the students and employers who participated in the Canada Summer Jobs program in Toronto-St. Paul’s this summer. The Canada Summer Jobs program provides funding to small businesses, public-sector employers and not-for-profit organizations to help them create summer job opportunities for students – an incredible initiative that gives so many young people a professional start and many small businesses the extra support they need to grow. I was a privilege to meet so many of the students and to hear about their experiences working with organizations that are making a difference in our community.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and to St. Stephen’s Community House for hosting our get together. I look forward to next year’s event!
