On June 2, 1997, I was elected as the Member of Parliament for St. Paul’s. Every day, I am so aware of the honour it is to serve one of the most engaged ridings in the country. I have always understood the parallel of my role as an MP and my role as a family doctor—ask what’s wrong, listen, and work together on a plan. Over twenty years I have been inspired by your advocacy for our neighbourhoods and communities, our province, our country, and indeed, the world.
Thank you so much for all your wise counsel and support. The time has flown by. I am so excited by how much more we can do together.
Thank you, merci, miigwech.
My first swearing-in ceremony in 1997.
