In celebration of International Women’s Day, we hosted our annual Toronto-St. Paul’s Summit for Young Women Leaders on Friday, March 3rd, 2017.
Gathering at Vaughan Road Academy, seventy-five outstanding female student leaders from twelve different local schools had the opportunity to hear from five inspiring professional women in different fields.
This year, we heard from Toronto Police Inspector Sonia Thomas; Deborah Richardson-Goulais, Deputy Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation for Ontario; Dr. Sylvia Bashevkin, Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto; consultant and advocate Chi Nguyen; and writer and advocate Hannah Rittner.
March 8th is celebrated around the world as International Women’s Day — a day to recognize women’s achievements and to acknowledge the challenges that women continue to face. This summit is such a meaningful and inspiring way to observe this important day. Thank you to our co-hosts, TDSB Trustees Shelley Laskin and Jennifer Arp, and TCDSB Trustee Jo-Ann Davis for helping make it happen!
